Your Home Away From Home

We are a kaupapa Māori health service committed to providing the very best care to all whānau in the Marlborough region who need our support.

Our Kaupapa Māori Services in the Marlborough Region

Te Hauora o Ngāti Rārua (THONR) began its journey in 1996 as a mobile Māori health provider. Today, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting whānau throughout the region and beyond, adapting to the ever-changing needs of our community.

Whānau Ora

Empower your whānau with our Whānau Ora Navigators, who offer personalised, wrap-around support and ongoing care for individuals and families navigating life's challenges. Our inter-generational, collective, locally-driven, and strengths-focused approach is delivered by staff with lived experiences, fostering deeper connections and understanding with the whānau we serve.

Rongoā Māori

Experience holistic healing with our Rongoā Māori services, which provide traditional Māori therapy, mirimiri (massage), karakia (prayer), and whitiwhiti kōrero (sharing of thoughts and issues). Our skilled practitioners offer a nurturing environment to support your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Āhuru Poipoia

Āhuru Poipoia empowers whānau through a family-centered, coordinated approach that places whānau at the heart of all decision-making. Our vision is for families to have the tools to take ownership and make changes, improving the well-being of their pēpi, tamariki, and rangatahi. We can facilitate Whānau hui and collaborate with other service providers to ensure the best support and resources for your family's needs.

Elderly Mistreatment

Our compassionate Kaumātua Navigator works alongside Kaumātua (elders) who are experiencing mistreatment, ensuring their immediate safety and mobilising access to the right services. We provide care, support, and guidance, enabling our treasured kaumātua to live with dignity and respect.

Palliative Care Support for Whānau

In partnership with Hospice Marlborough, our Palliative Care Support Kaimahi offers dignified, caring, and culturally focused support to whānau of all ages in palliative, hospice, or outpatient care. We are dedicated to providing comfort, understanding, and assistance during life's most challenging times.
